Antique American Clocks July 2021
48. $400
Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 7”, 1888. The 27-inch No. 7 is the little brother to
the 32-inch No. 6. Both are modeled after the Office Calendar No. 4. The walnut veneer on this example is excellent, with
no losses and clear graining; the finish is old and possibly original. Both glasses are old; the dials are old paper replacements,
the hands are correct. This clock contains a proper time-only, 8-day signed movement; the model also came with a time-and-strike
movement. There is a dark label on the door and a “do not oil” label behind the calendar. The calendar rollers are very
dark. The clock is running and the day is advancing, but the date hand is sticky and needs a bit of adjustment. The date
of manufacture is stamped on the back (1888). AAC sold a similar example in January for $450. $400-$600.
