Antique American Clocks July 2021
46. $350
Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 4 Hanging Office”, 1869-1918. ICCC’s most durable model,
unchanged (but offering many options) for almost 50 years. Here the case is walnut, refinished in 1965 as recorded in pencil
inside, with brass dial mattings (bezels) and a LaPorte Hubble time-only pendulum movement. The replaced paper dial says this
is a 30-day clock, but I did not test it. Hubble made a pendulum movement that ran 30 days and was used in Ithaca’s Large Iron
Case model (see Ly, Calendar Clocks, p. 150), although it differs slightly from this one. AAC sold a No. 4 Hanging Office last
July that held a movement identical to this one. The refinished case is clean and bright, the dial glass is newer, the calendar
glass old. Both paper dials have been replaced, the time dial is glossy, the calendar dial likely older and slightly yellowed. The hands are acceptable, the calendar hand is a modern replacement. The movement is unsigned; it is running without excuses
and the calendar is advancing. No label inside or out. AAC sold one a year ago for $400. $350-$450.
