Chelsea Clock Co. “Cabot” clock and barometer,ca. 1931.  A solid brass base on brass ball feet with a side-by-side brass-cased lever-spring time movement with a seconds dial and  a “holosteric” barometer with a mercury thermometer at the bottom.  The set is 7 inches wide and 5 inches tall with wear to the brass finish.  The silvered dial is 2.75 inches in diameter, making this the little brother of the “Columbus” (page 14 of the 1931 Chelsea catalog); there is a seconds bit and dial, and the name “Chelsea” is worn but visible above the seconds bit. Both glasses are flat, thick, and beveled.  The clock is a backwind and set, the brass back cover unscrews to access.  It is running; the thermometer is correct but difficult to read, and the barometer is untested.  The maker of the barometer is not indicated, but it does say “Made in France”; the largest French maker of aneroid barometers is Naudet & Cie (PNHB).  The company is still in business.  $50–$150.
