238. $50
Early French wooden urn table clock, ca. 1850. This is an
early French clock with a silk thread suspension, mounted in a wooden stand in the shape of an urn, with brass fittings. The
clock stands 20 inches tall on a brass base with feet, a brass repoussé dial with no cover, proper hands, and brass rope and finial
decorations on top. The finish on the wood case is uneven and worn. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike count-wheel movement
will strike but not run; the crutch is broken such that the pendulum, which has had extensive repairs, is not held in place. The movement is not marked. An unusual form for an early French clock. $50–$200.
