228.            $100

Ansonia Clock Co. “Shakespeare”, ca. 1894.  This large figural was repainted some time ago and is missing some details on the front left, where the sword handle and a sheet showing “Macbeath” has been broken off.  It is 14.5 inches high and 17.5 inches wide.  All the other ornaments and decorations appear to be present, with an enameled cast iron base.  The flat dial glass is beveled over a signed two-part porcelain dial in good condition with a visible escapement with steel pallets.  The hands are correct.  The 8-day half-hour strike movement is signed, running, and striking on a cathedral gong.  No label, key included.  $100–$250.
