178.           $500

E. Howard & Co. “No. 70 Regulator”, ca. 1900.  An oak case (31 inches long) with a 12-inch dial.  The case is clean with an old finish, the dial glass original with the original glazing and a modern lower glass and proper tablet.  The dial has likely been repainted with some further touch-up, and there are three filled holes around the mainstem that have no obvious use now.  The hands are blued steel and proper.  The signed 8-day, time-only movement is running strongly, the iron weight is marked ‘70’, the brass pendulum bob is damascened.  There is a pendulum tie-down on a newer wooden weight shield with a reproduced label, and the hanger on the back is a Warren Clock Co. inventory tag.  The average of four recent AAC sales of oak 70’s is $620.  $500-$700.
