Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “Small Walnut Index”, 1882-1898. Ithaca made this clock, and its slightly larger sibling, the “Large Walnut Index” exclusively for the Lynch Brothers,  who left the Culver Brothers Southern Calendar Clock Co. to sell clocks on their own.  This clock is 32 inches tall with a glossy refinish; I believe the crest is a replacement, properly done but differing slightly in the stain color.  The door glass is old but lacks the “Index” gold lettering placed across the middle opening in the dial board.  The dials are paper (as they were originally) and were done by The Dial House.  The calendar dial bears the ICCC logo and the notation that the clock was made for the Lynch Bros.  The hands are improper replacements.  The 8-day time-and-strike brass, spring-driven movement was made by EN Welch for the ICCC; it is running strongly and striking on a nickel bell.  There is a proper nickel pendulum bob, but the nickel linkage is missing.  I cannot get the calendar to work at all, and it will need service.  The calendar roller papers look original. The penciled date of manufacture on the bottom board is 1882.  $350–$700.
