Waterbury Clock Co. “Regulator No. 71”, ca. 1907. Ly shows
two catalog illustrations of this model from 1907 and 1914, with slight differences; this is the earlier model (Waterbury Clocks &
Watches, page 239). It stands 96 inches tall and 27.75 inches wide in quarter-sawn oak with an old/original finish. The
finish is clean with a few touched up nicks and a vertical shrinkage crack in the base. Both glasses are period/original. The 12-inch signed porcelain dial has just one small blemish that is essentially unnoticeable, with the proper and original hands,
including a sweep-seconds hand. The 8-day, time-only, anchor-escapement movement has a dead-beat escapement and retaining power,
with a temperature-compensating pendulum and a brushed brass weight that is not original. The fluted pendulum jars are filled
with 4 lb of lead shot. This clock ran for several days and then stopped, and stopped again after restarting; not sure what
the problem is. There is a brass signed beat scale at the bottom of the case and a black and gold label. This clock is
in outstanding original condition. $1000–$2500.
Delivery to the eastern half of the US for $500.
