E.N. Welch Mfg. Co. “Fannie Rice”, ca. 1892. A 23-inch refinished black walnut case with the original glass and a well-retained
gold stencil. The painted dial is clean, the hands proper and as shown in the catalog illustration on page 395 of Ly’s book
on Welch clocks. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed and clean but will not run or strike. There is
a Welch pendulum and a worn label on the back, and an alarm hooked up but untested. Fannie Rice was a singer and actress at
the turn of the twentieth century. $50–$100.
