Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Column Large”, ca. 1865. Perhaps the most common triple decker clock style; just under 33 inches with rosewood veneer and three period glasses with the original tablets.  There are less-than-perfect veneer repairs and the entire cornice is a modern replacement; the column capitals and plinths bear old red paint.  Both tablets are in excellent condition, with some inpainting to the middle tablet flowers. The contoured metal dial is clean with little wear or flaking, the hands are period and correct.  The Seth Thomas 8-day, time-and-strike movement is stamped with the Plymouth manufacturing location, consistent with the label; there are two 8-day weights and it strikes on a wire gong.  It is running without too much difficulty.  The label has some losses, and the case is a bit rough overall. The original tablets here make this clock worthy of collection; the case could use a bit of attention.  $100–$200.
