Eli & Samuel Terry pillar & scroll, 1824-1827.  Eli set up his younger brother Samuel in his workplace and Sam made the clocks; at the same time, Eli was in partnership with his sons Eli Jr. and Henry, also making pillar & scroll clocks.  The 31.5-inch case has a polished finish and no veneer issues; the scroll top, feet, and skirt all look original and without damage or repairs. The brass urn finials are on wooden posts.  Both glasses are modern, with an appropriate Terry-style tablet.  The wooden dial has been professionally cleaned; it has colorful floral spandrels and period diamond hands.  The 30-hour time-and-strike wooden movement is running without difficulty, striking on the iron bell, driven by two period weights.  There is a good label on the backwall, new tin dust covers, a key and working door lock.  A great-looking clock – do you own one of these iconic clocks?  The average of five sales by AAC is $482.  $250–$400.
