Thomas Green double-fusee bracket clock, ca. 1800.  Thomas Green was a noted clockmaker in Liverpool England from 1781 to 1822.  The mahogany case is 17 inches tall with good veneer and a clean finish, sitting on four small brass feet and with a brass handle on top.  The front and back doors hold old glass, possibly original, puttied in place; there is a working key latch in front.  The painted dial is typical for this period and shows light crazing throughout with a couple of chips, but little soiling.  The delicately carved gilded hands are likely original, including the calendar hand and the strike/silent lever.  The 8-day, time-and-strike, double-fusee movement has four knopped pillars and a florally engraved backplate that is prominently signed “Tho’s Green Liverpool”.  It is running easily and counting the hours on an overhead nickel bell.  There is a large winding key.  No sales on LiveAuctioneers or the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide.  $500–$1000.
