George Hills mirror clock, ca. 1850.  Hills made mirror clocks in OG cases with lever-spring movements that he bought from other makers, including Charles Kirk, as found here.  This clock is 35 inches long and 19.75 inches wide with rosewood veneer and an old, cleaned but still crusty finish. The mirror is almost certainly original with losses, the dial glass appears to be modern with a mirrored surface.  The metal dial holds old/original paint in good condition with likely replacement hands and a speed adjustment lever that is home-made; it is signed below the mainstem. The brass, presumably 1-day, lever-spring movement was made by Charles Kirk (but unsigned) and has a double escapement as well as a single spring that powers both the time-and-strike trains.  It strikes on a bell above the movement.  It runs for a while but needs service, and will not strike.  There is a good label inside that I have not seen previously on other Hills mirror clocks. AAC sold a similar example last summer for $125.  $100–$200.
