Seth Thomas Clock Co. “World” 8-day time-and-strike, 1904.  This model is most often seen with a 15-day time-only, double-wind movement, or less commonly, with a 30-day double-wind movement (see #231).  This variant, an 8-day time-and-strike, is the least common, but is listed as an option in the 1896 catalog (Ly, Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements, Vol. 1, page 323).   The 31-inch walnut case has an old finish with light patina.  The dial glass is modern, the lower door glass period/original; note the gold trim around the door.  The painted dial is clean with strong lettering and bears the ST logo and “Manufactured in the United States of America” at the bottom.  The three hands are ST issue.  The Seth Thomas No. 86 movement is running and striking on a cathedral gong with a great sound.  There is an ST pendulum and a white Seth Thomas label inside.  The year of manufacture, 1904, is stamped on the back.  Not as popular as they used to be, but these are great clocks.  $150–$300.
