229. $200
E Ingraham Co. “Bartholdi”, ca. 1896. A 40-inch walnut case with
an old finish and a light patina. All the carvings, applied ornaments, and finials are present and look correct. The
door glass is old, the dial is new glossy paper and the hands are correct. The dial board differs slightly from the catalog
illustration (Ly, Ingraham Clocks & Watches, page 144) with the addition of a small piece to hide the top of the pendulum rod;
it looks to be the same age as the dial board and so is probably a factory modification. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike
movement is signed and running, regulated by an Ingraham large pendulum bob with a brass rod cover and striking on a cathedral gong
with a nice sound. No label. One of Ingraham’s nicest wall models, but not common; AAC sold an oak version last
summer for $250. $200–$400.
