Elmer Stennes cross-banded presentation banjo, 1974.  A 41-inch mahogany case with string inlay around the front with cross-banded veneer.  Note the base, gold balls around the box, brass sidearms, and the brass eagle finial.  The numbers ‘24’ and ‘74’ are stamped into the case (inventory number and year made) and ‘24’ is also stamped on the throat piece; the back of the case is stamped with the Stennes name and location.  The glasses are of President Washington and Mount Vernon.  The dial is signed, the hands correct, and the 8-day time-only banjo movement is die-stamped for E O Stennes, Weymouth, MA.  There is a lead weight and a pendulum tie-down.  A great example.  Stennes banjo prices are all over the place.  $750–$1500.
