Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 4 ˝ Favorite”, 1882.  One of my favorite Ithaca clocks.  The walnut case is 31 inches tall with ebonized trim on the door, crest, and side quarter-columns, and base. The door glass is original but lacks the “Favorite” lettering found on about a quarter of the examples found on LiveAuctioneers; on some examples the trim is not ebonized.  The black dial board has gold incising with old paper dials; in rare examples the dial board is walnut (Warren, Ithaca’s Clock Makers, page 102).  The calendar dial properly labeled, retailed by the ICCC, and the hands are correct.   The 8-day, time-and-strike movement was made by Welch for the ICCC, as stamped on the brass movement.  It is running and striking on a wire gong, and the calendars are advancing.  There is a proper silver pendulum bob.  The date of manufacture is penciled inside on a bottom board, very faintly.  AAC sold one in 2024 for $900.  $750–$1000.
