E. Ingraham Co. “Doric-Extra Gilt Columns”, ca. 1880.  Ingraham made a number of “Doric” models with different designs – it was a popular model.  This is one of the less common designs, with gilt columns on each side.  There are no examples on LiveAuctioneers of this style of this model.  The walnut case is 16 inches tall with a faded finish on the sides, in need of rejuvenation.  The gilt columns and both glasses are original, with the gilt fruit basket in the lower glass having lost its black backing.  That could be restored easily.  The unsigned paper dial is very yellowed, the hands are appropriate.  The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed and running, although the strike is hung up.  There is an alarm hooked up, and winds separately below; it was not tested.  There is a dark label inside. $25–$100.
