Wm. L Gilbert Clock Co. “Mitra”, ca. 1891.  One of Gilbert’s more popular shelf clocks with lots of rectilinear lines in an attractive case with a large pendulum bob.  This one is in cherry with an old, dull finish in need of rejuvenation, 22 inches tall with a small pediment piece missing from the top center post (this is almost always missing).  Both glasses are likely original.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed and running, striking on a wire gong on the hours and half-hours.  A very toned paper dial on a nickel dial pan and bezel with appropriate hands and a label on the back.  This clock needs a good case cleaning and it will be much improved. AAC sold a similar example in 2022 for $130.   $100-$200.
