Wm. Gilbert Clock Co. “General”, ca. 1891. The
walnut case is 29 inches tall with lots of incising, carvings, and appliques, and a very old, possibly original finish. The
door glass looks to be original with the correct stencil. The dial is old unsigned paper, very worn, the hands are correct. The
8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed and running, striking on the Gilbert cathedral gong. There is a high-end
Gilbert pendulum included and a label on the back. Ly, Gilbert Clocks page 329. AAC sold an oak version
in 2022 for $250. $150-$300.
