F. Kroeber “Alexandria”, ca. 1888. A beautiful 18.5-inch mahogany case with a rich, patinated finish; note the carvings in the base.  The three glasses are beveled, the dial is silvered paper with a few tears and some darkening.  I assume it is original, but the catalog lists a porcelain dial. The hands are period but probably not original.  The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed “F Kroeber New York”; it is running and striking on a cathedral gong.  Note the unusual pendulum.  There is no label, inside or out.  Only one sale on LiveAuctioneers, in 2021 at Schmidt’s Antiques for $1100.  $750–$1200.
