49.                   $1000

Atkins, Whiting & Co. “Parlor No. 1” with wagon spring, 1850-1858.  The case is 17.5 inches tall, veneered in rosewood with no chips to be seen and an overcoated finish; note the ivory door handles.  The dial glass is period, typical, and has been rebacked; the lower mirror also appears to be period/original.  The metal dial appears original, the hands are period.  The unsigned 30-day round movement is clean and running, driven by the Joseph Ives lever-spring (wagon spring) movement in the base.  The pendulum stick is original; there is no label.  AAC sold one last summer for $1200.  A classic and beautiful clock that runs for 30 days.  $1000–$1500.
