83.             $1200

Atkins “Parlor No. 1” with wagon spring, 1850-1858.  Probably made by Atkins, Whiting & Co., but marketed here by J.J. Beals out of Boston; the dial is so signed, and there is a Beals label inside.  The case is 17.5 inches tall, veneered in rosewood with no chips to be seen and a great finish; note the ivory door handles.  The dial glass is period and typical, with some losses to the blue backing in the dial surround; the lower mirror is likely early twentieth century.  The metal dial appears original, with some soiling and is signed, as noted; the hands are period.  The unsigned 30-day round movement is clean and running, driven by the Joseph Ives lever-spring (wagon spring) movement in the base.  The pendulum stick is original; there is a label inside, obscured by the wagon spring.  AAC sold one last January for $1300.  $1200–$1500.

I use the following bid increments to assign the final sale price.  If your winning bid is less than one increment over the second highest bid, you are assessed your full bid amount.

$500-$999                   $50
$1000-$2499               $100

$5000-$9999               $500
$10,000 >                    $1000

If you are the only bidder and you bid less than $250, you will pay your full bid amount if you are the winning bidder; if you bid more than $250, you will get the item for $250 or the minimum bid price, whichever is higher.
