42.                   $400

Jeromes & Darrow “Eight Day Clock”, ca. 1830.  A 40-inch case with ringed half-columns and a carved splat.  The mahogany veneer is in good condition with a clean finish; the dial glass and bottom glass are period but the putty is newer; the middle mirror is probably a later replacement (the backboard is a replacement).  The bottom tablet has been repainted.  The wooden dial is clean, the hands proper and period.  The 8-day time-and-strike wooden movement is running and striking without issue, driven by two proper and period 8-day, 12-lb weights compounded on metal pulleys that are not original.  There is a good label. A pretty good example here, and 8-day wooden works clocks are not common.  AAC sold a similar example in 2023 for $485.  $400-$500.
