Wadsworths & Turners pillar & scroll, 1829-1831.  A short-lived firm in Litchfield CT composed of two sets of brothers making pillar and scroll clocks.  The case is 31 inches tall with Seth Thomas-style brass finials on metal posts (this is seen in some other examples), with good veneer and an old finish.  Both scroll tips have been repaired; the skirt and feet look original. Both glasses are original with an original tablet with considerable losses.  The wooden dial has colorful spandrels and gilt decorations inside the chapter ring; the hands are period.  The 30-hour wooden works time-and-strike movement is running strongly and striking on an iron bell, driven by two period weights with a period pendulum bob.  A darkened but readable label, with a door key, working latch, winding crank, and replacement dust covers on top.   $250-$400.
