6.                   $300

Seth Thomas pillar & scroll, 1818-1827.  A second example of this early clock from Seth Thomas, again that does not acknowledge Eli Terry’s patent on the label.  The 31-inch case has a clean but glossy finish, with repairs to the veneer on the door cross bar. The scroll top is old/original with a repair to both scroll tips evident from the back, but has been re-veneered.  The brass urn finials on metal posts are quite tarnished.  I believe the feet and skirt are replacements, as the feet are not as delicate as is found on other examples, such as #5.  The dial glass is old, but may be an old replacement, while the lower glass is period but the tablet repainted.  There is a working door latch, key, and ivory escutcheon.  The wooden dial is clean with colorful spandrels and gilt and gesso decorations around the mainstem.  The hands are proper.  The wooden 30-hour time-and-strike movement runs briefly and will strike, with cast iron weights and an old pendulum bob.  There is a toned and torn label inside. $300–$500.
