E.N. Welch Manufacturing Co. “La Reine” Patent Case, Cast front series, ca. 1882.  Welch produced six desk-top clocks in this series, each with a different cast front plate in gilt or nickel finishes, with a back-wind one-day lever or, in some models, an eight-day pendulum movement.  This is the one-day version of La Reine with a gilt finish on the 8-inch case, but it is polished down to brass.  The glass is beveled, the dial paper with the Welch logo and a seconds hand.  It strikes on a bell under the cannister once on the hours and half-hours, but the minute hand needs to be reset, as it is striking on the quarter hours.  The movement bears the Welch logo and a patent date of 1880. It winds but I can’t get it running.  There is a partial label on the inside of the rear cover.  AAC sold a nickel example in 2023 for $100.  $50–$100.
