Seth Thomas “Regulator No. 19”
REPRODUCTION, ca. 2000. Carroll Horton with Bob Crowder had 35 of these made around 2000, and they originally sold for $3000
and up. They are faithful reproductions of the original, right down to the smallest details. The 76-inch case
is both solid mahogany and mahogany veneer with a beautiful finish and rich color. There are five flat glasses and properly
turned finials, an enameled dial with a sweep seconds hand, and a standard escapement that runs 8 days, time only. The
two-jar pendulum has thumbprint jars holding lead shot, with brass caps. The weight has knurled endcaps, there is a beat
scale at the bottom. The clock is running a bit tentatively. Fontaine’s sold a reproduction last year for $1200;
AAC sold one in 2023 for $1500. AAC sold an original in 2024 for $10,000. Delivery to the eastern half of the US
for $450. $1200-$1500.
