122. $75
Waterbury Clock Co. Parlor Clock, ca. 1880. A 31-inch
case with a finish so dark that I cannot determine the wood; the book (Ly, Waterbury Clocks & Watches, Vol. 1, page 425) says
it came in rosewood. Both glasses are likely original with good retention of the reverse-painted designs. The metal dial
has been artistically repainted and varnished, with some yellowing; the hands are likely original. The 8-day weight-driven time-and-strike
movement is die-stamped “Waterbury Clock Co. CT” and is running, feebly, and will not strike – it needs to be cleaned and oiled. There are no weights with this clock, but proper weights can be purchased in the Parts section. A dark and stained label inside. AAC sold a cleaner example last summer for $150. $75–$150.
