Waterbury Clock
Co. eight-day parlor clock, ca. 1880. A 31-inch case veneered in rosewood with a clean finish and just one chip on the left
side of the base. Both glasses are period/original, with the stencils having been rebacked. The period painted metal dial
is clean with some fading; the flowers in the spandrels suggest that this dial may not be original to the clock, as the dial glass
provides the spandrels. The hands are period. The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed Waterbury and is running and
striking, driven by two replacement 8-day weights. There is a good label inside; a near identical example is shown on page 425
of Ly’s Waterbury Clocks & Watches, Vol. 1. These are pretty clocks. $150–$300.
