146.           $200

Ansonia Clock Co. “Queen Elizabeth”, ca. 1880.  This appears to be an early version of this common model – the crest differs from the more common examples.  Ly shows this early model on page 190 of Ansonia Clocks & Watches, dating it to 1880; by 1901 the styling had changed, primarily in the crest.  This is not an exact match to the catalog illustration for 1880 as the crest is not an identical match, and some other subtle differences in the case decorations can be found.  The 37-inch walnut case has been refinished, the door glass is old.  The dial is old glossy paper, unsigned, and the hands are correct.  The 8-day, time-only movement is signed and running, with a replacement pendulum stick and original bob.  No label.  Always a popular model; AAC sold one last summer for $237.  $200–$300.
