Isaac Packard long drop shelf clock, ca. 1830. Isaac
Packard worked out of North Bridgewater, MA, sometimes in partnership with Rodney Brace, both of whom used Torrington-style horizontal
wooden movements (and also Terry-style movements). Packard favored long-drop cases like this one, 31 inches tall with good mahogany
veneer all around. Notable here is the lovely original tablet, probably restored, and in excellent condition. The half-columns
have been repainted and rebronzed, the splat is bright but may be period. Both glasses appear to be original. The wooden
dial was restored by Kathi Edwards (The Dial House), the hands are period/original. The 30-hour, time-and-strike Torrington
movement is running but not striking, driven by two small, 3-lb square weights. There is a good label inside. AAC sold a
similar example a year ago for $750. $500–$800.
