Isaac Packard shelf
clock, ca. 1830. A 29-inch mahogany case with a clean and bright finish, and just an occasional veneer chip. Both
glasses are old, the dial glass putty has been removed and the lower glass was repainted by Lee Davis (signed). The dial
has gilded gesso rings and good color, with two period hands. The east-west (Torrington) wooden movement runs briefly and
strikes easily on a large iron bell. Two 30-hour weights and a good label inside. An attractive and representative
example of Packard’s work. Packard’s clocks are not common, with a total of seven on LiveAuctioneers and Antique Clocks
