Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “Large Walnut Index”, 1882. This is one of the first Indexes made, as the ICCC began manufacturing this model in 1882 (The date of manufacture, 4-82, is penciled
in on the baseboard inside). The case is just over 33 inches tall with an old and patinated finish. The door glass is
original with the proper and likely original lettering (see Warren, Ithaca’s Clock Makers, page 135). All the trim parts appear
to be original, the paper dials are clean and may be old replacements. The hands are correct. The 8-day, time-and-strike
movement was made by Welch for the ICCC; it is running and striking on a large nickel bell, and the calendar is advancing. The
roller papers are in good condition and may not be original. I can’t find a single thing not to like. AAC sold a similar
example in 2022 for $1175. $900–$1200.
