Antique American Clocks JULY 2024
150. $2250
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Parlor Calendar No. 10”,
1885. This is the early version, with acorns on the four corners of the crest. The rear acorns have been repaired, but
everything looks original. The 37-inch walnut and walnut burl case has been varnished over older finishes; the glasses are likely
original. The time dial is also original, with scattered spotting, soiling, and some touch-up. The calendar dial has been
renumbered over a lightly sprayed overcoat of white paint; all hands are original. The Seth Thomas 8-day time-and-strike movement
is running and striking on a cathedral gong, driven by two proper and period 8-day weights; the calendars are advancing. There
is a good instruction label on the back of the door and a ‘do not oil’ label inside. AAC sold a similar example in 2021 for
$2500. $2250–$3500.
