Antique American Clocks JULY 2024
147. $500
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Parlor Calendar No.
4”, 1878. A 24-inch walnut case with an old/original finish and ebonized trim. There are some scattered chips and scratches;
both glasses are likely original, as are the painted dials and hands. There is yellowing, chipping, and wear to the dials, with
some poor touch-up to the calendar dial. The calendar roller papers are likely original. The Seth Thomas 8-day, time-and-strike
movement is running and striking effortlessly, and the calendars are advancing. There is a dated instruction label on the back
of the door and a ‘do not oil’ label inside. An uncommon model, very original and in excellent condition. AAC sold a slightly
nicer example last year for $760. $500–$800.
