86. $150
Atkins Clock Co. “London”, ca. 1870. An 8-day model,
the most common form, with good rosewood veneer (a few nicks here and there), original painted columns and gilded capitals and plinths,
original glasses, tablet and dial surround, a repainted and antiqued contoured dial, replaced but proper hands, and an unsigned 8-day,
time-and-strike movement that is running and striking as expected. There is an alarm hooked up but not tested, and both strike
on a cathedral gong that is a later modification. A good label inside. A classic from Atkins. AAC sold one last
year for $250. $150–$250.
