172. $2800
E. Howard & Co. “No. 75 Regulator”, ca. 1889. A 34-inch
oak case with an old finish. All the finials are present and likely original; the dial glass is original, the lower glass a
modern replacement. I believe the dial is an old repaint, with some touch-up; the lettering is just a bit imprecise. The
hands are proper. The 8-day, time-only movement is signed and marked ‘70’ and is driven by an iron weight also marked ‘70’;
both are correct for this model. There is a weight shield and a label on the back of the door. A very desirable model
in excellent condition. AAC sold two similar examples in 2022 for $3500 each. $2800–$3500.
