Antique American Clocks July 2021
18. $200
Altdeutsch 3-weight Vienna regulator, 1870-1895. A 44-inch walnut or cherry case
that has had the finish removed but not reapplied. The cornice and crest are modern replacements; it is missing the bottom center
finial. The Corinthian columns sit on carved vases with flourishes at the top; the base is also nicely carved. The door
glass is wavy; there are two side glasses. The two-part porcelain dial has some fractures. The movement is unmarked, with two
wire gongs to sound the last hour and the quarter hour (petite sonnerie); it is stuck on four strikes for the quarter-hour but is
progressing through the hour strike correctly. It won’t run for more than a minute or two and needs service. The weights
are pretty dented up. $200-$400.
