Antique American Clocks July 2021
17. $500
Brass one-weight Vienna regulator, ca. 1900? The brass case is 50 inches long and
in good condition, with light tarnish/oxidation over most surfaces. I don’t see any serious problems, but the base is split
along a seam and slightly out of kilter. The glasses are newer, the side glasses need to be secured into position somehow. The porcelain two-part dial is flawless, with good hands. The 8-day, time-only movement is unsigned, driven by one brass weight
and regulated by a large brass pendulum bob; it is running without problem. An impressive clock but very heavy. Horton’s
sold this clock to the current owner in 2014 for $975; a Gustav Becker brass clock sold in January 2020 for $650 at Vogt. $500-$1000.
