150.             $350

Wm. Gilbert Clock Co. majolica porcelain clock, ca.1905.  Gilbert made a number of porcelain clocks with a majolica finish and only a few are listed in Ly’s book on Gilbert clocks. This is one that isn’t.  The 14-inch by 14-inch (not small) cobalt blue case has pink flowers in front, shell-like designs on the sides, and a two-part porcelain dial with an outside escapement behind a beveled glass.  The dial has some hairline cracks and a bit of repair at the fast/slow adjustment.  The pallets are steel, the hands are correct.  There are no chips or cracks to the case and the signed, 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is running and striking.  Only one sale of this model, in 2009 at Jenack’s for $700, so it’s not common.  $350-$700.
