Antique American Clocks July 2021
122. $100
L. & L. Ward 30-hour OG, ca. 1855. An OG! The most abundant clock on the face of
the earth, perhaps with the exception of humpbacks. And yet, I rarely have any to sell. Here is one from a very rare maker;
I know of only one other example. The case is 26.5 inches tall with good mahogany veneer and two old glasses, the bottom likely
original, with signatures going back to the late 1800’s. There is a small wooden dial in good condition and two old and proper
hands. The 1-day time-and-strike brass movement is unsigned, running and striking, driven by two 30-hour weights. The
label is complete, protected by plastic. I can find no sales examples from this maker in the Antique Clocks Price Guide, Schmitt-Horan,
or LiveAuctioneers. $100-$200.
