112.      $1200

Union Labor Co. (Samuel N Botsford) miniature Empire clock, ca. 1860.  ULC is best known, to the extent that it is known at all, for making candlestick clocks designed by Silas B Terry.  This 8.5-inch-tall clock is often attributed to SBT (as I had done before Bob Markowitz brought me up to speed).  I can only find one sales record for this model, indeed, for this clock, which sold at Cottone’s in 2014 for $1650.  The case is mahogany with the original finish and gilded columns; there is a mirror behind the small pendulum, with the 1-day movement (time-only) behind the glossy paper dial on a tin plate.  It is running like it was made yesterday.  $1200-$2000.

A big thanks to Bob Markowitz for providing information on this unusual clock!
