Antique American Clocks July 2021
85. $250
Gustav Becker two-weight Vienna, 1885-1890. A 52-inch dark walnut case with a rearing
horse on top. All the trim looks original including the finials, but the horse is spelter metal painted black. The door
glass is modern, the weights and pendulum original. The porcelain dial is without cracks and bears the GB logo, the hands rather
crude replacements I think. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement bears the GB logo and the serial number 662083. It runs,
but not with much vigor, and is very sensitive to positioning. It strikes a wire gong on the hours and half-hours. A rather
nice and original example. $250-$600.
