Forestville Mfg. Co. miniature ripple-front steeple, 1842-1849.  Not your everyday ripple-front steeple, this is the less common miniature form at 16 inches tall.  The clock is largely unrestored, with a dark and varnished finish, two original glasses with an intact tablet, and the original dial, signed J.C. Brown ~ Forestville, CT.  The finial tips are broken off, the painted dial is soiled, varnished, cracked, and chipped off in places.  It isn’t pretty, but it is original. The one-day time-and-strike movement is signed and has been “tightened up” at the pivots; it is running and striking, although the strike is reluctant.  The inside label is dark but nearly complete.  Horton’s sold one in 2016 for $2130; these miniatures are uncommon and bring a premium price.  This is what the untouched 1840’s look like today.  $1200-$1800.
