Antique American Clocks January 2020
442. $150
Zaanse Dutch wall clock, 1973. Made in Holland and dated inside to 2 July 1973. There is bronze
ornamentation around the top with a figure holding the world on his shoulders. The dial is silvered on a dark textured background
with bronze spandrels, matching the bronze hands; there are two full twisted bronze columns on each side. The oak case is heavy;
there is a pendulum that shows through the lower window of a rider on a horse. Two heavy brass teardrop weights, one has a spot
of corrosion. The movement was made by FHS (Franz Hermle & Sons) in Germany, 8-day, striking once on the hour and half-hour;
it is running but is out of plumb. This example seems to be a bit higher quality, and probably earlier, than #441. $100-$200.
