Antique American Clocks January 2020
48. $500
Ansonia “Prompt”, ca. 1901. One of Ansonia’s most popular large wall clocks, this one
is in mahogany with an old rich finish, 50 inches long. There is an old glass in the door and two side lights, the dial is old
paper, rather yellowed and about ready for replacement. Hands are correct, the cathedral gong is mounted on a labeled base,
there is an Ansonia beat scale below the large brass pendulum bob that looks original. The 8-day signed, time-and-strike movement
is running strongly and keeping time. A label on the back. You don’t see many this nice. $500-$800.
