Wayne Cline miniature diamond-head banjo, 1965-2006.  Wayne Cline worked in Bowling Green, KY making high-quality reproductions of early time-pieces. His miniatures, like this one, are avidly sought.  This 21-inch walnut case (including the brass eagle finial) has string inlay around all the borders and two glasses painted by Tom Moberg; the throat glass honors Daniel Munroe, who built the first diamond head time-pieces, while the box glass commemorates Commodore Oliver Perry’s victory on Lake Erie in 1813.  The painted dial is signed, the Waltham Watch Co. 8-day lever movement is unwilling to run and will need attention.  The number ‘44’ is stamped into the case and door, and the number on the back, C4465204, may indicate the year made (2004).  A winding key is included.  Schmitt Horan sold an identical example last December for $900.  $600–$1000.
