Ansonia Clock Co. “Symbol Extra”, ca. 1894.  A 15-inch metal case that has been painted gold, with three thick beveled glasses and a black metal backboard.  The top finials are correct. The two-part signed porcelain dial has the Ansonia logo and fancy gold hands, as shown in the catalog illustration (Ly, Ansonia Clocks & Watches, page 108).  Note the gilded metal dial surround.  The visible escapement has ruby pallets.  The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed and running, striking on a cathedral gong and regulated by a proper pendulum, as shown in the catalog illustration.  AAC sold a Symbol Extra in 2024 for $375.  $200–$400.
