119. $150
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Chime Clock No. 57”, ca. 1914. A
12-inch-tall mahogany case, 17.25 inches wide, with a clean finish, chiming on four bells. ST made this with rods or bells;
this one has five bells, but only four strike hammers; the bell rack may have been replaced or substituted at manufacture. It
counts the hours on all four bells at once, so a strike hammer is not missing. The dial glass is beveled and convex; the slightly
convex silvered dial shows light wear with proper hands. The 8-day, time, strike, and chime ST movements are running and striking
as expected. There is a no-chime lever on the right to silence the chimes, but why would you want to? $150–$300.
